Children love animals so as a special treat I took my
niece and nephew for a day out at the abattoir. We would have gone to
the zoo but it was raining and zoos are boring.
The
kids loved their tour, roaring with laughter each time Sandy the
bearded tour guide bellowed “Guess What Happens Next Kids!” through her
megaphone. They did not guess correctly and the last part of tour did
come as something of a shock.
Still, infants’ tears are easily
dried by the diversion of a new toy, and a trip round the gift shop soon
sorted them out. Tim chose a replica bolt gun, which he managed to use
on both his parents before it was confiscated, and Rosie got some ‘cow
soap’. I didn’t know they are such clean animals.
Overall
the children loved the experience and have since pestered their mother
for a return trip to the indoor zoo with all the ketchup on the floor
